Overall, Koe no Katachi is probably my favorite anime movie of all time. I genuinely think it is a masterpiece that beautifully and effectively analyzes numerous themes. I haven't read the manga but plan to and have heard that it helps elaborate on smaller characters like Ueno and Kawai and their actions/decisions.
Ironically enough, despite its title, the movie had a lot of great quotes from its amazing characters that will remain with viewers for years to come. 10 "You've Got A Heart Of Gold. Shoko's No Slouch Either. I've Got Some Mighty Fine Grandchildren. Have One Of The Manju, Too."
Probably near the end. Maria is shoya’s neice but they represent Maria as shoya’s sister . Maria’s mother is Shoya’s elder sister who we haven’t seen the face of yet. And the black dude is her father. The manga does a better job explaining this, but she is the daughter of Shoya's sister. That's Shouya's niece.
People judge fictional characters way too quickly and easily to be honest. In real life, people only ever show you what they want you to see (or what they can't avoid showing you). It's a bit more justifiable to judge them purely based on that. But, usually, fictional characters are shown in their entirety.
After watching Koe no Katachi (aka A silent voice), I came to a realization that slice of life drama is more than just presenting a character's everyday life
